A huge airfreight order for M&M BG

Sofia. In August, M&M Air Cargo Service successfully organized the air transport of a complete cigarette production and packing line with a total weight of 29,828 kg, a volume of 198.20 cubic meter – all in all 16 crates, divided into two airfreight consignments. The customer: the Bulgarian unit of the international Aiger Group that supplies innovative products and technologies to the pharmaceutical and the tobacco industry. The destination: Bangkok, Thailand, where Aiger is setting up a new plant. The goods were shipped on board of DHL and Cargolux airplanes.

M&M ACS was able to win the tender against some of the big players in the forwarding market. “Both Aiger and M&M ACS believe that success is not accidental and rely on a systematic approach and hard work every single day. What makes our approach unique is that we work together with our customers in close relationship, being at their disposal even days a week and after working hours”, says Galina Atanasova, Managing Director M&M Air Cargo Service Bulgaria Ltd. “Thanks to our team’s experience in handling urgent, fragile, oversized and heavy machinery, we managed to provide the complete range of logistics support with fixed door-to-door delivery, meeting a tight timeframe.”

In China: Products Made in Bulgaria

For the fourth consecutive year M&M ACS was officially nominated by the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy as a forwarder of Bulgarian products to China as part of Bulgarian’s participation in this year’s Ningbo “China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo 2016”, held from 9th to 12th June, 2016 in Ningbo, China.

The exhibition accompanied the Conference of the Ministers of Economy and Trade of China and Central and Eastern Europe. The aim is to encourage mutual investment, technological cooperation and trade between the two sides.

Producers of wine, confectionery, rose oil, juices, cosmetics, honey, floral water, textiles and others, were among the Bulgarian participants at the exhibition.

In answer to our magazine Team&Motion’s questions on this order, CEO Galina Atanasova sent us the following report:

Despite the tight timeline and the big variety of products, M&M ACS managed to coordinate the shipments in three groupage consignments, to consult companies about the documents, certificates and packing requirements for the importation to China and to arrange the export customs formalities.

Helped by M&M Shanghai, M&M ACS ensured the rapid and timely calculation of customs duty and VAT amounts for each consignment and its advanced payment.

The biggest logistics challenge was to organize the air transport of dairy products under temperature control. A big obstacle was the fact that no airline flies direct from Sofia to Ningbo, but only to Shanghai, therefore the last leg from Shanghai to Ningbo was executed by a road feeder, which as a rule accepts only general cargo.

Furthermore, M&M ACS had to cope with various other problems, among others, to convince China Airlines operating from Amsterdam to Ningbo to accept the transfer of perishable consignment delivered from Sofia by Bulgaria Air, and to deal with the fact that Ningbo airport does not have equipment available for the storage of temperature-controlled shipments.

The great efforts and risks taken by M&M ACS were rewarded with the success achieved by its clients at the exhibition in Ningbo. Already on the second day of the trade show, the Bulgarian company Bor Chvor signed an agreement for the export of dairy products to China.
